Highlands of Scotland

Our seven day loop through Scotland began and ended in Edinburgh. It includes a short visit to Glasgow and Inverness, as well as several castles, the famous Loch Ness, two national parks, and the stunning Highlands.

We combined this trip with a visit to London, so our driving route begins and ends at the rental car lot in Edinburgh Waverley train station. The overnight train, Caledonian Sleeper, is a very time efficient option for combining London and Scotland. The cabins are small, but they come with en-suite bathrooms and cramped, but functional, showers.

The overnight ride was very convenient and we all slept well. And the next morning we awoke in a new city ready to get out and explore, with no time wasted in travel. One caution about the train is that it leaves late at night and arrives early. So try your best to get to sleep as soon as you can.
