A Noisy Sidewalk
Distance 1.9 Miles Elevation Gain/Loss 190/190
What can I say about the Golden Gate Bridge that hasn’t been said? It’s just under 2 miles each way. The elevation goes up toward the center then down. It’s a very noisy walk alongside a highway with a nice view. The bridge is much nicer to look at than to walk across.
Transportation on this section is a challenge if you want to only go in one direction. It’s much easier to walk back again once crossing rather than try to park cars on both ends. It’s a bit short for a one-way hike anyway, but consider the distance in both directions if combining this with another hike. We combined it with the Presidio section and found it was easy to catch a Waymo once we returned to the SF side. There is a designated pickup location toward the entrance to the busy parking lot.
